Explorers in Sheffield Don District

There are currently 4 parts of the Unit in Sheffield Don District, and the Young Leaders Unit.

These are:

Explorers on Mondays

Meeting on a Monday night (7:30-9:30pm) at Chapeltown

Scout HQ, Burncross Road, Chapeltown.

Explorers on Wednesdays - Shiregreen

Meeting on Wednesday evenings (8:00 – 9:30pm) at Shiregreen

Scout HQ, Barnsley Rd, Sheffield

Explorers on Wednesdays – Stocksbridge

Meets on Wednesday evenings (8:15 – 9:45) at the Scout HQ at the bottom of Nanny Hill

Explorers on Thursdays

Meeting on Thursday evenings (8:30 – 10:00pm) at

Grenoside Scout HQ, Saltbox Lane, Grenoside.

Young Leader Unit

This is a special unit run for the Young Leaders in the District, enabling them to meet

other Young Leaders. Meetings are less regular and focus on providing the correct

training.

How do I join?

To join in the activities with any of the units, feel free to turn up on the given evening, but as the unit may be meeting elsewhere or at a different time to normal, it is a good idea to contact the leader beforehand:

How much does it cost to join?

To get the most out of Explorer Scouting you have to put a lot of effort in, and also a bit of money!

Joining Fee

To become registered as an Explorer costs £35. This fee includes; the Explorer Scout Handbook (£5.00), registration and the books for the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze or Silver Award (£13.00), a Unit Necker (£2.50), membership badges (£2.00) and your first quarters subs (usually £30). A quick bit of maths will show you that these add up to £52.50, so your first quarter actually works out quite cheap!

After that regular subscriptions are £30 per quarter, paid in advance
