The Duchess will be helping out at Scout meetings and will be supporting specific projects. This role is all about flexible volunteering and is ideal for The Duchess. Due to all the other demands in her life she is not able to make a regular weekly commitment, but still wants to help make a difference. The Duchess will be helping out in particular with Cub Scout Packs and Beaver Scout Colonies.
As flexible volunteering is therefore high on the current news agenda this is a brilliant opportunity to offer up a suitable case study of one of your adults aged under 35, who has a Scouting role, whilst at the same time has to manage a busy lifestyle around their flexible volunteering. Please find below a selection of quotes and a video for use on your communication channels.
Bear Grylls - UK Chief Scout, who led a party of 200 Scouts to the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011 said:
"The Duchess has an incredibly busy life which makes it all the more inspiring that she has chosen to volunteer alongside us. Over the last few years it has been our mission to make it easier for adults who volunteer with us to give as much or as little as they are able – it is how we change our society: many people doing a little bit. I just know that the Duchess will love the buzz that young Scouts always bring to their communities and their adventures, and there are few greater joys than being part of empowering young lives through the simple principles of Scouting: fun, friendship, faith and family."

Scouting offers challenge and adventure to 400,000 young people and 100,000 adults across the UK. We believe in helping our Members fulfil their potential by working in teams, learning by doing and thinking for themselves. We give people of every background the chance to stretch themselves, learn new skills and make life long friends.
