Dragon's Den came to Don District this last weekend. 6 teams from 3 troops (32nd, 33rd &231st) all competed for the honour of being rewarded by the Dragon's.
We were lucky to have Judith Young, a business woman who has worked and managed companies with turnovers of £500 million, and Sylvia West whose knowledge of scouting is legendary as our two dragons. They played the part to the full with searching questions about costs and products.
Each team had to come up with either a new product or service that would be useful for scouting. Ideas ranged from a whistle and torch enabled woggle, a bear that you could take on camp, a circular storage device, a pocket necker to a scouting penpal site and a ScoutLine to help answer the questions every scout needs to answer.
All the teams had their business plans and devices ruthlessly questioned by our two Dragons.
In the end the Dragons gave feedback to all the teams before eventually awarding the prize and November Challenge Trophy to the 33rd team for their work on the Scouting Website that enabled scouts to contact others from around the world.
All the scouts present completed the requirements for the Entrepreneur Challenge.
